Our Walking Football Code of Conduct

By joining our club, all players 'on and off' the pitch must agree to:

Always play the game fairly and in the right spirit.

Avoid criticising match officials, accept that they make honest decisions and confronting them will not change it.

Never verbally abuse a match official, player or spectator based on their appearance, race, religion, gender or sexuality. Doing so could lead to dismissal from the field, suspension and possible police action.

Never physically assault a match official, player or spectator. This includes dangerous play and aggressive tackles. Doing so could lead to dismissal from the field, suspension and possible police action.

Always win, lose or draw with dignity, and be prepared to shake hands with match officials, opposition players and managers at full time.

Be aware of the impact of bad language; keep spectators and members of the public – including children – in mind.

Players must understand if they do not follow this Code, they may expect to:

Be cautioned, sin binned or sent off by the match officials, depending on the nature of the offence.

Be asked to apologise to whoever I have offended or abused.

Be disciplined by the club committee, including being given a formal warning or suspended from training or matches depending on the nature of the offence.

Be required to leave the club depending on the nature of the offence. 

Rules for Non-Contact Walking Football

Below is a general list of the rules we play to at Moss Farm. In Competition, friendlies or at other locations these rules my be different.

An in-direct free kick is awarded to the opponent if an outfield player:

  • An outfield player is deemed to be running (which is determined by both feet been in the air when moving.
  • An outfield player touches the ball more than 3 times in a row.
  • An outfield player ball is kicked above head height (which is measured against the height of the goal crossbar).
  • An outfield player heads the ball.
  • An outfield player makes a tackle from behind or uses their shoulder in a tackle.
  • An outfield player deliberately obstructs an opposing player.

An in-direct free kick is awarded to the opponent if a goalkeeper:

  • The goalkeeper touches the ball once they have cleared it, until it has either touched an opponent or two of the goalkeeper’s players. This should be awarded 3m from the penalty area line nearest to where the offence took place.
  • The goalkeeper does not pass to an outfield player within 6 seconds. This should be awarded 3m from the penalty area line nearest to where the offence took place.
  • The goalkeeper kicks the ball above head height from a goal kick. This should be awarded 3m from the penalty area line nearest to where the offence took place. 
  • An outfield player is deemed to be running (which is determined by both feet been in the air when moving.

If the goalkeeper saves a shot and it goes high and back into play this will result in a kick-in from the side to the opposition 3 metres from the goal line.  

If the goalkeeper makes a save and it goes high without the ball leaving their area it will be the goalkeepers ball, unless the ball crosses the goal line then the goal will be given.

If the goalkeeper makes a save and the ball goes out of play behind the goal line then it will be a corner.

A penalty kick is awarded to the opponent if:

  • An outfield player enters or the goalkeepers exits the penalty area.
  • Every time a team accumulates four running offences in a game.
  • At the Referee's discretion for an offence which stops a clear goal scoring opportunity.

A goal is awarded to the opponent if scored directly from a corner kick.

A goal cannot be scored direct from a free-kick.

Persistent Fouling / running / disruptive behaviour:

  • If a player is penalised for running for a 3rd time in a match the referee can ‘sin bin’ the player for 3 minutes.
  • If a player is penalised for persistent fouling or dangerous play the referee can ‘sin bin’ the player for 3 minutes.
  • If a player is awarded a Red card* for abuse or disruptive behaviour they will miss the rest of the session
  • Two x Sinbins in a session by the same player will will result in a red card*.

*Any player issued with a red card will get an automatic 1 match ban or the option to referee the next game they play.  If a player gets a second red card in a future game then they will be called to a meeting with the PG group to discuss their actions and suitable punishment will be implemented.

Throw-ins : A player can roll-in by hand or kick-in the ball.  The ball should be stationery on the line.

Penalty kick : The player starts their approach with both feet on the ground no more than 1 step from the ball.

Match time : 1 hour

Sides : Usually 7 players per side.
